The Aubrey Rose Foundation was founded in memory of our angel, Aubrey
Rose. Aubrey was always a very happy baby throughout everything she
endured and she smiled continuously. In honor, her foundation provides
support and help for those who seek to be lifted from the complexities
of life here on earth and to find a greater happiness in those things
that could be. Aubrey brought a great light into our lives. Help
us pass that light along.
Our Mission
Our mission is to help families caring for children with life threatening
illnesses with our focus being on the family unity. We strive
to lift families from life's complexities during this difficult time
by providing emotional and financial support.
The Aubrey Rose Foundation will be honoring Aubrey's life
by:

Awarding
educational scholarships for children so that they can better
themselves. In Aubrey's three short years, she made a positive
impact on many people. These scholarships will be based on
how children have made an impact on the people around them.

Healing the Worlds Hearts Program
- This was developed by Aubrey's Foundation with help from
Cincinnati Children's Hospital doctors, surgeons and corporate
support to provide "simple" heart procedures to sick children
in the U.S. and developing countries around the world. We say "simple" heart
procedures because these are surgeries which can be performed
in the U.S. that can SAVE A CHILD'S LIFE letting them go back
home to live a healthy and productive life without follow-up
cardiac procedures.

Our Philosophy
To provide a balanced giving program that will put huge smiles on
the faces of children and their families.
Foundation Accomplishments

|
We have
awarded 124 educational scholarships for children so that they
can better themselves and are on target for giving out an additional
25 scholarships each year for many years to come.

|
|
 |
|
|
We have helped 78
families to date for a total of $103,000 in financial grants excluding our Healing the World's Hearts patients which is another $100,000. The
amount of our grants are growing in proportion to the monies
coming in to Aubrey's Foundation. We are pleased to say that
we are able to help more families with bigger amounts than
we've been able to in the past. This total is strictly
for grants to families and does not include our other programs.

Miracles
for LifeŽ (MFL) is a national, non-profit organization dedicated
to raising awareness and funds to promote organ transplantation
as one of the world's greatest medical achievements and recognize
the individuals touched by organ transplantation. We celebrate
donors and recipients, as well as organ donation advocates,
medical professionals and volunteers, in particular, as heroes.
We strive to make these organ donor heroes a focus in the public
eye, raising organ donor awareness, thus increasing the consent
rate. Aubrey's Foundation helps Miracles for Life by raising
awareness and funds to promote organ donation. For their work,
in 2004, Jerry & Nancy Hollenkamp received the "Hero Award" for
their dedication and volunteerism and more importantly, Aubrey's
sister and brother received scholarships for their high school
tuition for their work with helping Miracles for Life and spreading
the word of the importance of organ and tissue donation to
young people.

In
April of 2001, U.S. Department of Health and Human Services
Secretary Tommy G. Thompson, an outspoken advocate of organ
and tissue donation, launched the Workplace Partnership for
Life program to raise awareness of the need for increased donation.
This program focuses on engaging businesses, organizations
and other places of employment to educate employees about the
critical shortage of organs and tissues for transplantation.
The Workplace Partnership for Life is truly a win-win campaign
in which everyone can play a significant role in recruiting
potential organ, tissue, marrow, and blood donors. The Aubrey
Rose Foundation was one of the founding members for Ohio's
Workplace Partnership for Life. Read

In
November of 2006, our first Healing the World's Hearts program
patient had open-heart surgery. Aubrey's Foundation was
able to fund this entire operation with support from Dr. Peter
Manning and the Heart Center staff at Cincinnati Children's
Hospital. A beautiful three year old Russian girl named
Elena had her surgery on a Monday and within two weeks was
able to go back home and start to live a "normal" life
with a repaired heart. This operation saved her life and Aubrey's
Foundation is hoping that we can continue to help many children
from with the United States as well as children from around
the world get a life-saving heart repair so that they too can
enjoy a happy and especially healthy life!
In August, 2008, our 2nd Healing the World's Hearts program patient will be having open-heart surgery. Hannah, a four year old from the Philippines will be operated on by Dr.
Eghtesady
at Cincinnati Children's Hospital. We're praying that Hannah's surgery will be much like Elena's above and she'll be able to sail through her recuperation time and be able to go back home to live a happy and healthy life!
We have budgeted $50,000 for each patient for the Healing the World's Hearts Program. |
