A little over a year ago Daniel and Forrest, 17-year-old identical twins, were enlisting to serve in our nation’s armed forces. Now Daniel is paralyzed and they are both hanging onto life after a rare diagnosis and countless surgeries.
The now 18-year-old young men from the Mason area were diagnosed with an extremely rare condition that affects all of their blood vessels. The condition and subsequent surgeries has left Daniel paralyzed. Before the condition both brothers were healthy and active. Forrest had been accepted into the Marines and Daniel had enlisted to be an Army medic.
The Theiss family was in need of a handicapped accessible van and we wanted to help. Together with Kings Toyota, Corporate Toyota, and many wonderful donors, we were able to make this wish a reality.
On Saturday, May 4, the Theiss family received their new handicapped accessible van at Kings Toyota. Greg Walker of Kings Toyota created a wonderful presentation of the van and even had a big bow on top. It was a truly touching moment.
In addition to the van, the Theiss’ will receive $1,000 from Mobility, a company that retrofits handicap vans. They will use the money to purchase a stander for Daniel.
Thank you to everyone who has contributed and helped to make a difference for this wonderful family.
