Hello Everyone,

Isn’t this an exciting time of year – I love when the trees start turning beautiful colors and the air gets a little cool! It’s not only an exciting time of the year but also, our time has been exciting getting the new businesses, Writely Sew and Aubrey Rose Apparel up and running. We had open houses in September to showcase what we do and we had a great crowd who attended.

We have been very busy with planning for the Let’s Dance for the Heart of It! which is scheduled for Friday, November 13. We’re very excited about having this fun event at the Hilton Cincinnati Netherland Plaza this year. If you would like to attend, please see the details below.

We have heard from Pacita and Hannah from the Philippines who came over last year for Hannah’s open heart surgery. She is doing great and gaining weight and height with her repaired heart. Fortunately, their region in the Philippines was not hit but the other parts of the Philippines have experienced extensive damage and many deaths because of the typhoon that hit Manila.

We hope everyone stays healthy and avoids the flu this season. Please check with your doctor to see if it’s best that you get the flu shot this year. Carly and I just received our shots today!

We wanted to let everyone know that Microsoft has partnered with the Children's Miracle Network to provide three CMN pediatric hospitals with an Ultimate Game Room, worth up to $10,000. The three winning hospitals will be determined by your vote.

Go to http://xbox.childrensmiraclenetwork.org/default.aspx and click on "Vote Now." Then find Cincinnati Children's on the list and vote. Each participant may vote up to 10 times. The competition is open now through Oct. 16. With your help, Cincinnati Children's can win an Ultimate Game room that our patients and families will enjoy for years to come. Remember you can vote 10 times per day everyday until October 16th. Just keep clicking vote.

Hopefully you will never have to visit Cincinnati Children’s Hospital but in case you do, they are a top-notch care facility and this Ultimate Game Room would really help to lift the patients spirits there!

We wish everyone a happy and healthy Autumn. Take time to enjoy the crispness of the air and the beautiful foilage!

Thank you all from the bottom of my heart and double lungs for your support, your kindness and most of all your belief in the Foundation!

Jerry, Nancy, Carly, Spencer and Saint Aubrey Hollenkamp
George and Nancy Frondorf, (Aubrey's Grandparents)

Difference Maker Award

We are so pleased and honored to announce that the Aubrey Rose Foundation was chosen to receive the Duke Energy Children's Museum's Second Annual Difference Maker Award. The panel of 7 judges that were in charge of voting voted unanimously for Aubrey's Foundation and that has never happened before. We’re quite honored to be receiving this award.

We would love to have you join us at this Awards Reception which will take place on October 29, 2009 at 3:30 p.m. The reception will begin with socializing and networking. A presentation of the awards will follow. Reception will be $25 per person. Please call ( 513) 287-7021 to make a reservation.

Open House Update

Aubrey Rose Foundation, Writely Sew and Aubrey Rose Apparel held open houses on Wednesday and Thursday, September 23 and 24th at their new office at 7805 Affinity Place. It was wonderful to show off the new facility and to show people what our new business units can do with regard to embroidery and embellishments.

We are a full service apparel company with a dual mission: to provide edgy and exciting graphic designs, embroidery, imprinting services and garment embellishments; and 100% of the profits from Writely Sew and Aubrey Rose Apparel are going back to the Aubrey Rose Foundation so that we can continue to fund the mission of the Foundation to help families with children who have life-threatening medical conditions.

Our embroidery machines can create high-volume, highly detailed logos and our specially designed garment machine creates crisp, clear, color-fast designs in up to 256 colors in almost any size needed. Whether companies or non-profits, schools, fraternities, and sororities are looking for small runs or for an ongoing line of logo wear, we are able to do the job.

To reach our new offices, please feel free to call 513.728.2682.

Ronald McDonald, "Trick or Treat Dinner Party"

Saturday, October 17, is our next scheduled Ronald McDonald House themed dinner party "Trick or Treat Dinner Party" This fun event will be a sure hit with the families living at the House. We'll have all kinds of neat decorations, crafts for the children at 5pm and then a delicious dinner will be served at 6pm and indoor Trick or Treating at 7pm, all in a effort to makes these families smile.

It's tough having to live at a Ronald McDonald House because you are away from your families and friends in a strange city and your child is sick enough for you to have to go out of town for treatment. It's indeed scary but having a Ronald McDonald House for someone to "live" in is a real blessing. From personal experience, the Hollenkamp's lived at the Cleveland and Philadelphia Ronald McDonald Houses for about 8 months in total while Aubrey's Grandparents, lived at the Camden, New Jersey House when they would come to visit. They are very special places and will forever hold special places in their hearts!

The Cincinnati Ronald McDonald House was just expanded to 78 rooms and so we're very excited to be hosting this party! We're cooking for 200+ because of the new addition and many more families can now be helped by this wonderful place that becomes a home away from home!

If you would like to join our future dinners, please send Nancy an email at nancy@aubreyrose.org

The Baja Project & The Faster Pastor

The Aubrey Rose Foundation is collaborating up with Christian Chapman, "The Faster Pastor," a preacher in Charlotte, North Carolina to help him and his ministry reach out to 1000's of children so close to the USA in his unusual approach to ministry. The Baja Project is an opportunity to do outside of the box ministry that most churches cannot do because their focus is inwardly driven by discipleship and local community outreach.

Aubrey’s Foundation thinks this is a natural fit to partner with the Baja Project because our goal is to put smiles on the faces of many children and their families. The Baja Project is trying to do the same thing through their ministry. To help accomplish this, Christian needs YOU!! With your gift of love they can provide Spanish language Bibles, food, equipment, and all that is needed to start and finish the Baja 1000 race. This is an outside the box ministry that enables us to get the attention and reach children we would never see. We at The Aubrey Rose Foundation are asking for your help in support of Christian Chapman, the Faster Pastor with the Baja 1000 Project.

Please help us help them reach the children of Baja.
We know in this economy that times are tough, but if all of our supporters could just give $1.00 each, think about how much we could help these children. If you can spare a $1.00, please help make a difference for these children – and it may even make a difference for you as well – knowing that you are helping those with many needs. For more information and a way to donate to the Baja Project please click here http://aubreyrose.org/Baja%20Project.htm

We are asking the Cincinnati area schools if we could have their students draw a picture or write a short prayer or letter of encouragement to these children that will be placed in the Spanish language Bibles and will be handed out to those in the Ensenada area. Please note that we are only asking for prayers and letters written in the Spanish language since this is the primary language spoken in this area.

Aubrey's sister, Carly Hollenkamp, is coordinating these efforts for the letters. If you would like your child to send a letter or draw a picture or you would like to send a check for the Baja Project, please feel free to mail it to us at:

Aubrey Rose Foundation, ATTN: Baja Project 4480 Oakville Drive, Cincinnati, OH 45211. If you have questions for Carly, please email her at carly.hollenkamp@gmail.com.

Message Board "Thank You's" from families

On the Aubrey Rose Foundation website is a message board where families we have helped and others can write messages. We would like to highlight a message on this board:

"In life there are people whom triumph over all. Those who take a tragic loss and turn it into a avenue to help to others to whom are suffering. You did this for us. You made a difference. Thank you for approving us for Aubrey Rose Grant. I cried..my husband was speechless..and Aiden and Hanna were so thankful. They love the soft beautiful bunnies to cuddle with and are sympathic for your loss of your beautiful Aubrey Rose but grateful that because of her and through they were recipants.

Thank you for making our day and may God Bless each and every one of you. We cannot express our gratitude enough."

Always and Forever in our hearts,
Kandice, Owen, Aiden and Hanna

It’s because of your belief in Aubrey’s Foundation and through your support that we can help families in need with financial, spiritual and emotional support. Having a child who is medically fragile is hard enough but when you add the financial burden on top of everything, that can be quite overwhelming. Our goal is to lessen this burden and to let these families know that people really do care and so giving families grants to help relieve some of the burden can be so uplifting. These families have some of their burden relieved and the better part is that our grant can put a smile on their faces and help to rejuvenate these families so that they can continue caring for their sick child.
