Hello Everyone,
We hope everyone is having a wonderful summer – We certainly are!
Carly just graduated from University of Cincinnati and it was very special ceremony. It’s hard to believe that our oldest daughter is now a college graduate! She has blossomed into a beautiful, intelligient and such a kind-hearted adult and we are so very proud of her!
Spencer is living at Eastern Kentucky University taking classes this summer and he’ll be a junior in the Fall. That’s hard to believe too! We thank LaSalle High School for preparing Spencer for college but also more importantly, for believing in him! It’s exciting to see him grow into someone who is going places – watch out for great things to come from Spencer!
Aubrey’s Grandparents are doing well and enjoying time with their grandson, Paul this summer. Paul lives in Arlington, VA and is spending some time with Grandma and Grandpa and all of his aunts, uncles and cousins.
We have some awesome things going on with the Foundation. Look for more on this next month but I can guarantee you that our exciting news will definitely keep you in stitches!
We hope you can join us for our Fireworks Spectacular and our upcoming Dance but please read below about why we do our fundraisers and how you are helping us help others. Please know that we are so appreciative of all of your support, your love and most of all, your belief in what the Foundation is doing – together we will be able to eventually help thousands and thousands of children.
Thank you all from the bottom of my heart and double lungs for your support, your kindness and most of all your belief in the Foundation!Jerry, Nancy, Carly, Spencer and Saint Aubrey Hollenkamp

Sand, Sinners and Saints - The Baja Project
The
Aubrey Rose Foundation has teamed up with Christian Chapman "The
Faster Pastor" to help him and his ministry reach out to
1000's of children so close to the USA in his unusual approach to ministry.Christian
is a preacher in his church in Charlotte N.C. and The Baja Project is
an opportunity to do outside the box ministry that most churches can’t
do because their focus is inward driven by discipleship and local
community
outreach. Christian is teaming up with his good friend
to race in the Baja Project.
Christian and Chris support and love the local church and their efforts
to reach those that are around the corner but they also understand that
Jesus’ ministry was mobile as well as were most of the disciples
and apostles of the early church. Jesus Himself reminded the disciples
of their mission with his words in Acts 1:8 “But you will receive
power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you; and you will be my witnesses
in Jerusalem, and Samaria, and even to the remotest places on earth. Please

When developing your estate plan, you can do well by doing good. Leaving money to charity rewards you in many ways. It gives you a sense of personal satisfaction, and it can save you money in estate taxes. By leaving money to charity when you die, the full amount of your charitable gift may be deducted from the value of your taxable estate.
The easiest and most direct way to make a charitable gift is by outright bequest of cash in your will. Making an outright bequest requires only a short paragraph in your will that names the charitable beneficiary and states the amount of the gift. The outright request is especially appropriate when the amount of your gift is relatively small, or when you want the funds to go to the charity without strings attached.
Another way to help the Aubrey Rose Foundation is for everyone who is reading this newsletter, to make a small contribution such as $5 donation and you can do this online at http://www.aubreyrose.org/donate.htm. Think about all of the families that we could help once those $5’s are added up. This online donation works… take a look at President Obama’s campaign – according to Twitter, he raised $42 million dollars by people making an average donation of $12 online! That was people making a donation to pay for airtime and travel during the presidential race but just think that if all of our friends and supporters of the Aubrey Rose Foundation made just a $5 donation, how quickly this could add up and how many children we could help!
We hope you never have to utilize Aubrey’s Foundation for a sick child but just think about it for a minute. What would YOU do if your child were sick? The cost of medical care can really devastate a family in many ways and having been there dealing with Aubrey and her medical condition, we know first-hand how this can wreak havok on a family.
Put aside your comfort zone for just one minute, say a prayer of thanks and make your online donation to Aubrey’s Foundation to help relieve the added stress that these families have. You will be rewarded ten-fold!
When we help families financially, and we receive a thank you note, we don’t think the family has any clue as to how much this means to us. Their note brings such joy to us and it really validates why we do what we do. It makes all of our efforts so very worthwhile and their notes put tears of joy into our eyes – We cannot tell you in words how much it means to us that the family actually took time to thank us! And then to receive a picture is even more rewarding because we love to surprise families with a little something extra for the children. The grant helps out the families with their financial needs but we need to do something for the children to so that they feel the love from Aubrey’s Foundation as well. Having a child with a life-threatening medical condition is stressful enough but when you add the burden of the financial strain, it can just put a family over the edge. Our mission with the Aubrey Rose Foundation is to help these families financially, spiritually and emotionally.
Here are a mother’s words:
Dearest Jerry and Nancy,
Last week we received your box of happiness for our family. We were ecstatic when we read and saw your letter with payments made towards Hunter & Mia’s medical bills. The beyond generous gifts cards for medical and travel needs was breath-taking. I personally cried 6 times that day just talking about the Aubrey Rose Foundation and your generosity. Our family really needed that cheerful surprise! All 5 of the kids love and adore the stuffed bunnies & duck. Mia took a strong taking to the duck, as she loves penguins and thought it was one-ha ha! We are so touched by Aubrey’s story and pray for your family every night. We explained to our oldest children the sotry behind the Foundation and Aubrey’s unfortunate situation. The first thing Hunter said was, “Aubrey is looking down on us from Heaven and making us smile with our new animals. I immedicately broken down and said, “Yes, little Aubrey is protecting us with her Angel wings.
I wish there was a way to repay you all for your sweet thoughts and concern. If you EVER need us for our time and sotry or any volunteer opportunities, please DO NOT hesitate to ask. We will continue to visit Aubrey’s website and please keep us on your email/mailing list.
Thank you again for all that you do and have done for us! We can’t THANK you enough. Have a wonderful day and God Bless!
Love Always,
Eric and Jane and of course, Lexus, Hunter, Devon, Taylor and Mia
Our goal for this Scholarship Reception is to have the scholarship recipients and their parents, the 8th grade teachers, grade school principals and the high school principals from the schools where the recipients will be going to, in attendance. We want this Reception to be so motivating and uplifting and we want everyone to walk away knowing what an honor it was not just for the Scholarship Recipient to receive this award but also for everyone to walk away with a special feeling in their hearts and smiles on their faces! I think we accomplished our goal!
On June 10th, 2009 the Scholarship Reception was such a wonderful evening. Scholarship recipients could meet other students who will be going on to high school. And it was a night where their new principals/administrators could meet the recipients as well. The parents had a chance to talk with other parents and also with the administrators of the schools and this was priceless. Nancy started the night off with Aubrey’s story and Jerry continued on about how our scholarship recipients are now “marked”. He went on to explain that these high school principals now know these recipients and if the principals need a student to do something special, they know that they can call on one of the Aubrey Rose Foundation Scholarship Recipients and the job will be done. The parents totally understood this and the recipients will eventually come to know this. We had Anthony Buford, ARF Board Member and head of the Junior Scholarship Board speak first and with his great speaking voice and the story he had to tell, he spoke volumes to the guests at this Reception. Anthony is a dynamic motivational speaker! Next we had our two Junior Scholarship Board Members, Brian Jacob and Mike Staud speak about what being a member of the Junior Scholarship Board really meant to them. This Junior Scholarship Board will oversee the applications coming in for the 25 scholarships that Aubrey’s Foundation gives out every year.
Brian and Mike truly are role models for our scholarship recipients!
We
had a beautiful day for our 9th Annual Aubrey’s Open Golf Outing that
was held on
Sunday,
May 17, 2009 at the beautiful Aston Oaks Golf Course. We
had a packed outing with 144 golfers and many of these golfers had their
family members come for dinner and our silen
t
auction.
We
are very pleased to announce that we were able to generate $18,000 to achieve
our mission of helping families caring for children with life threatening
illnesses with our focus being on the family unity.
We
are so thankful to our sponsor, the
Texas Roadhouse and Joseph Toyota and
all of the businesses who contributed to our auction. And of course without
the volunteers who give their time we could never realize our mission -
we thank you from the bottom of our hearts and double lungs!
